Danielle Starry named a 2026 New Century Workforce Scholar

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, March 10, 2026 – Stark State College student Danielle Starry has been named a 2026 New Century Workforce Scholar and will receive a $1,500 scholarship. More than 2,300 students from nearly 1,400 colleges nationwide were nominated. Only one New Century Workforce Scholar was selected from each state.

Danielle StarryThe first-of-its-kind scholarship supports students at associate degree-granting institutions on a national scale as they plan to enter the workforce after completing a degree or certificate. New Century Workforce Scholars are selected based on their academic accomplishments, leadership, activities and how they extend their intellectual talents beyond the classroom. The program is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Starry is a massage therapy student and a member of Stark State’s Student Government Association. She plans to graduate this spring. The New Century Workforce Scholars will be recognized at Phi Theta Kappa’s annual convention, PTK Catalyst, in Baltimore, Maryland, March 26-28.

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, Feb. 9, 2026 – The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration recently awarded Stark State College an $88,688 grant to help veterans, active service members and their family members transition into careers in the transportation industry.
