(North Canton, OH – Aug. 9, 2023) – Michael Wheeler, Esq., was sworn in as a new member of the Stark State College Board of Trustees. His term runs through Aug. 1, 2026.

He replaces Alice Stephens, who stepped down after nearly a decade of service on Stark State’s Board.

Wheeler is president and chief legal officer of Patriot Software Co. and serves as president of the board of directors. During his 15 years with the company, he also has served as general counsel, corporate counsel and subsidiary president and corporate acquisitions director. He previously worked at LexisNexis.

A Jackson Township native, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and legal studies from the University of Mount Union and a juris doctorate from The University of Akron School of Law.

Active with numerous professional, religious and civic organizations, Wheeler is a member of the Board of Trustees of the YMCA of Central Stark County, where he has served on numerous committees; is on the board of the Stark County District Library Foundation; and serves on the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Education Committee. He also has volunteered extensively in global missions, working with orphanages, victims of human trafficking and non-governmental organizations in Asia, Central America and throughout Africa.

Also serving on the Stark State College Board of Trustees are Harun Rashid, chair; Elaine Russell Reolfi, first vice chair; Marlé Fernandes, second vice chair; Karen Lefton, immediate past chair; Tracy Carter; Patricia Wackerly; Jeffery Walters; and Fonda Williams II.
