Stark State College students named to All-Ohio academic teams, Phi Theta Kappa chapter earns awards

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, May 2, 2025 – Four Stark State College students are among 52 students from Ohio’s community colleges honored for their excellence in academics, leadership and community service as part of the 2025 All-Ohio Academic Team.

Dana Aramouni was named second team All-Ohio Academic Team. Prince Ampomah, Angella Hamrick and Joe Waldron were named third team. They were recognized during a virtual ceremony hosted by the Ohio Association of Community Colleges (OACC) on May 1. The All-Ohio Academic Team is a collaboration between the OACC, Phi Theta Kappa national honor society and event sponsor Honda.

The top-performing students were nominated by college faculty, staff and leaders. First-team students received a $1,000 scholarship, second-team students received a $500 scholarship and third-team students received a $250 scholarship. In addition to first- and second-team honorees, the All-Ohio Academic Team also includes high-achieving students who are planning to move directly into the workforce.

Also, for the 21st consecutive year, Stark State’s chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society earned the Five Star Chapter Award, presented at the recent Ohio Region Awards Convention hosted at Stark State. Shari Brooks, director of Student Leadership and Engagement at Stark State, won the Horizon Advisor Award and the Cindy L. Carbone Continued Excellence Award for Advisors.

  • Honors in Action Theme Award
  • 2024 Reach Chapter and named Top Ten Chapter
  • Nominated and elected as the 2025-26 Ohio Region President: Benjamin Nash
