Student Leadership Academy is a joint program between Kent State University at Stark and Stark State College. The academy is designed to help you learn about yourself and develop valuable skills when it works for you!
Our program is based on critical skills employers look for: communication, leadership, financial literacy, goal-setting, cultural competency and professionalism.
If you want to build your resume, enhance your online professional presence, meet new people and prove that you are motivated, then Student Leadership Academy is a great choice! No previous leadership experience is necessary.

Position Yourself for Success: the Power of “I AM”

- In this personal leadership-focused session, participants will explore Threes Steps to Position YOUrself for Success and the Three Things they will need in addition to getting a good education. All attendees will receive a free CliftonStrengths code. Discover the power of “I AM”!

Strength-based Leadership

- Discover your unique strengths and learn about what makes each student leader a valuable and unique contributor to team success. Receive a free CliftonStrengths code by attending the SLA workshop on Sept 12. This online code will unlock your top five strengths and include an online book with valuable resources relating to strengths discovery. Designed for student organization officer teams but open to all students!

FINANCIAL LITERACY

- This presentation is all about financial wellness, what financial wellness is and why it’s important. The presentation will also cover topics such as borrowing, spending and saving money. Students will learn the importance of adopting smart borrowing skills, building a budget and why saving money is beneficial.

MENTAL HEALTH
Student Mental Health Workshop

Presenter: Susanna Campbell
- Learning objectives in this session include understanding multi-dimensional personal wellness, developing good habits for regular self-care and practicing boundary-setting skills to maintain a balanced plate.
HOW TO EARN A CERTIFICATE
- Complete four sessions to receive a certificate.
- You choose the sessions you want to attend via Zoom, Handshake, Skills to Succeed or in person.
- Any combination of in-person sessions or special session offerings will be accepted.
- A completion certificate will be emailed to you.
